Who we need
Reporting to the Central QA Manager, we are looking for a Central QA Specialist to join our team at our Lebanon, Indiana facility. You will play a critical role in maintaining the certification, documentation, and quality systems that support our food safety and regulatory compliance programs. Working at the intersection of commercialization, quality, and plant operations, you will help ensure product requirements, certification standards, and regulatory expectations are accurately translated into execution on the production floor. You will oversee certification programs, support HACCP and audit readiness, and maintain the quality documentation and systems that ensure every product meets the standards our customers expect.
This is an existing, full-time, permanent role working a day shift Monday through Friday. Flexibility may be required during the first three months of onboarding to support occasional evening shifts during training.
What’s in it for you
Impact on food safety and certification compliance. Quality and food safety are foundational at Skjodt-Barrett. In this role, you will help maintain the quality systems that ensure products meet strict regulatory and certification standards, including organic, kosher, and other specialty certifications. With approximately 80% of production requiring kosher compliance and strict process control, your work will play a direct role in protecting product integrity and maintaining the trust our customers place in us.
Exposure across the business. This role sits at the intersection of commercialization, quality, and plant operations. You will work closely with teams responsible for product development, commercialization, and manufacturing to ensure product specifications, certifications, and regulatory requirements are accurately translated into execution on the production floor, providing a broader understanding of how quality systems support complex food manufacturing environments.
Ownership and growth in quality systems. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of certification programs, documentation systems, and quality processes in a highly regulated environment. You will gain hands-on experience managing compliance programs, supporting audits, and working with QA systems and tools, building the foundation for continued growth in quality, regulatory, or food safety leadership roles.
How you will make an impact:
- Ensure certification and regulatory compliance. You will maintain certification programs including Kosher, Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, RSPO, and Gluten-Free, ensuring products meet regulatory and certifier requirements. You will maintain certification databases, verify supplier and product certificates, and ensure product claims align with certification guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Maintain food safety and quality programs. You will support the facility’s HACCP program by participating in quarterly HACCP meetings and ensuring documentation and program requirements remain current. You will also support quality programs such as QIP (in-process quality) and QAP (finished product quality) by coordinating documentation and ensuring production standards align with customer specifications and food safety requirements.
- Manage quality documentation and compliance systems. You will maintain the master document control system, including annual documentation reviews, new document creation, and maintenance of controlled quality records. You will complete and submit QA sections of customer questionnaires and ensure regulatory documentation remains accurate and up to date.
- Support audits and corrective actions. You will assist with customer audits, certification audits, and internal audits, preparing documentation and supporting audit readiness across the facility. You will track and support corrective actions arising from audit findings and ensure required documentation and follow-ups are completed.
- Ensure supplier and certification program compliance. You will maintain the manufacturer and supplier database, coordinate vendor approval documentation, and verify supplier certifications to ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain QA systems and data integrity. You will maintain QA-related data within our ERP system, supporting new product setup, QA updates, and system modifications related to quality programs. You will also maintain production run report databases to ensure specifications, customer requirements, and run parameters are accurately captured.
- Act as a bridge between commercialization and plant operations. You will support cross-functional coordination by translating product requirements and certification standards into operational execution on the plant floor. You will work closely with commercialization, quality, and plant teams to ensure products meet regulatory, certification, and customer expectations.
What you bring to the role:
- The qualifications. You have a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in a food manufacturing quality role. You hold HACCP certification, with PCQI certification considered an asset or a certification you are willing to obtain.
- The knowledge. You understand food safety frameworks such as HACCP, BRC, or GFSI-based standards, and have experience supporting regulatory compliance and certification programs. Experience working with specialty claims products such as organic or kosher is strongly preferred.
- The drive. You are a self-starter who can manage documentation, compliance programs, and quality systems with minimal supervision. You take ownership of your work, identify opportunities to improve processes, and ensure programs remain accurate and compliant.
- The interpersonal skills. You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with commercialization, quality, and plant operations teams. You are comfortable working cross-functionally to ensure product requirements and certification standards are understood and implemented.
- The attention to detail. You bring a high level of organization and precision to documentation and compliance work. You understand that maintaining accurate records, certifications, and quality data is essential to protecting product integrity and food safety.
