Summary of Role:
The Finished Goods Release Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and compliant release of finished food products. This position is responsible for reviewing production, packaging, and quality documentation to verify that all finished goods meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements before release to distribution or customers. The role works cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Production, Inventory Control, and Shipping departments.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Coordinate the release of finished goods by reviewing production batch records, quality documentation, and test results.
  •  Ensure all product holds are properly investigated and resolved prior to release.
  • Verify that all critical control points (CCPs) and preventive controls are met as per HACCP/Food Safety Plan.
  • Collaborate with QA and Production teams to resolve documentation discrepancies or non-conformances.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date release logs, batch records, and digital systems (e.g., ERP).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, GFSI schemes, customer specs).
  • Issue product release documentation or certificates of analysis (CoAs) when required.
  • Participate in audits, traceability exercises, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support recall or withdrawal activities by providing traceability and inventory data as needed.
  •  Monitor and escalate aging inventory or delays in release to ensure timely shipment.
  • Adhere to all company safety and quality standards.
  • Adherence to facilities GMP Program
  • Provides coaching, education and training of management staff and plant employees for Quality Assurance; seeks assistance as needed from other training resources
  • Organizes and maintains documentation of all required quality systems and activities
  • Other tasks as assigned

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Understanding of food safety systems (HACCP, GMP, SQF/BRC/ISO).
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, FSMA).
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP or inventory management systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a food science-based area of study is preferred or equivalent of 3-5 years hands on experience in the food industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience working a QMS under GFSI and HACCP
  • Excellent knowledge of GFSI
  • Possesses a very solid knowledge of sanitation and pasteurization/post-pasteurization processes
  • Experience dealing with FDA in acidified and acid foods (21 CFR 114 and 108.25)
  • Effective communication skills within a 24/5 manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Reads, speaks and writes English
  • Performs basic math equations. Understands basic temperatures and weight measures.
