Who we need

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, we are looking for a Maintenance Planner. You will be the single point of accountability for maintenance planning and scheduling. This existing vacancy is a full-time, on-site role working  Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm or 9 am - 5 pm at our Indiana plant, with some flexibility to cover other shifts or weekends.

What’s in it for you

Scope, exposure, and impact. This role combines technical, practical, and administrative responsibilities, giving you direct influence over equipment reliability, plant uptime, and the effectiveness of maintenance execution. You will work closely with Maintenance, Operations, and external service providers to improve day-to-day plant performance, gain visibility with plant leadership, and participate in cross-functional decision-making that drives reliability outcomes.

Reliability experience, and technical depth. You will build hands-on experience in reliability engineering practices, including root cause analysis and FMEA (failure mode and effects analysis). You will develop deep expertise in the administrative and planning aspects of maintenance, applying your on-the-floor knowledge to improve systems, coordination, and execution.

Career growth and progression. At Skjodt-Barrett, we value accountability, structured thinking, and continuous improvement. You will step into a role previously held by someone who was promoted internally, with a clear opportunity to grow into a maintenance leadership position over time as you expand your impact and capability.

How you will make an impact:

  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance work. You will act as the single point of accountability for maintenance planning and scheduling, receiving and prioritizing non-emergency corrective work requests and building executable job plans in the CMMS with input from subject matter experts. You will prepare, publish, and maintain the Master Maintenance Schedule, ensuring CMMS-generated preventive maintenance is reviewed and assigned at the appropriate intervals. You will ensure corrective and preventative work orders are allocated to the correct team members and are executed efficiently, safely, and reliably across multiple shifts, driving consistent plant uptime.
  • Participate in planning and alignment with stakeholders. You will attend maintenance backlog, planning, and scheduling meetings with key stakeholders to ensure alignment, visibility, and prioritization across the plant. You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and external service providers, to support decisions that improve workflow, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance overall plant performance.
  • Manage contractors, vendors, and compliance. You will oversee contracted services and calibration programs, ensuring vendors meet all quality, GMP, food safety, and health and safety standards. You will maintain calibration records, contractor documentation, hot work permits, and maintenance standards, supporting both regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support reliability improvements and change management. You will contribute to reliability engineering practices such as root cause analysis (RCA) and FMEA, helping reduce downtime and address recurring issues. You will ensure work orders are completed following review by the Mechanical Lead and support Management of Change (MOC) processes and SOP updates, ensuring improvements are captured and sustained.
  • Report on performance and support parts management. You will prepare and report maintenance KPIs, provide feedback on work order quality and closeout, and collaborate with Maintenance leadership and Data Governance to improve CMMS data integrity, maintenance plans, and standard operating procedures. You will act as backup to the Maintenance Parts Coordinator, supporting the sourcing and availability of spare parts and critical materials as required.

What you bring to the role:

  • The experience. You have a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a trade license. You have worked as a maintenance technician or maintenance planner in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a GMP-regulated facility.
  • The technical skills. You have experience using CMMS platforms for maintenance planning and documentation, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and D365 or similar systems. You understand preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • The mindset. You are organized, analytical, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing production needs while maintaining accuracy and structure.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have clear, professional, and adaptable communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to prepare reports and relay quality expectations. You can work directly with cross-functional teams and build productive relationships across levels and departments, collaborating effectively in a diverse plant environment.
