Who we are

Skjodt-Barrett is a world-class manufacturer of food solutions and custom ingredients for North America's most beloved and trusted brands. We take pride in working closely with our customers to understand their unique needs and create innovative, individualized solutions that deliver joy to their customers.

A family-founded company started over 40 years ago, we are backed by the investment company Axel Johnson Inc (AJI). With their investment and support, we are well-positioned to foster growth and explore new opportunities.

Our customers, blue-chip international brands and mid-sized producers alike, are why we exist. Our teams of innovators, communicators, and managers are the people who meet their needs, build trust, and exceed their expectations.

Who we need

Reporting to the Production Manager, we are hiring a Production Supervisor to lead third-shift production, team performance, and operational excellence. As the new Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for production execution, safety, compliance, team performance, and continuous improvement outcomes while ensuring the shift operates safely and efficiently, in full alignment with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements.

This is an on-site role working Monday to Friday, 3rd Shift from 10:30PM – 8:00AM at our plant in Lebanon, Indiana, with some flexibility to cover other shifts on occasion.

What’s in it for you

Lead with ownership and accountability. You will take full responsibility for third-shift operations, setting priorities, solving problems in real time, and leading your team to meet production, safety, and quality expectations. This role offers true ownership of a shift and the authority to make decisions - whether you bring direct food manufacturing experience or are ready to apply your leadership skills in a regulated production environment.

Make a visible impact on performance and culture. Your leadership will directly influence plant results, food safety and audit readiness, and employee engagement. You will strengthen standards, improve processes, and build a team culture grounded in accountability, respect, and pride in doing things right.

Growth as a people and operations leader. As you demonstrate strong leadership and operational excellence, you will have opportunities to expand your scope and progress into broader production or plant leadership roles. Skjodt-Barrett supports leaders who take initiative and consistently deliver results.

How you will make an impact:

  • Own performance and deliverables. You will complete production plan scheduling and assign personnel to ensure productivity levels are met. You will establish priorities, monitor progress, revise schedules, and resolve problems. You will report the results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Optimize workflow. You will monitor every step of the process: setting variables, observing control points and equipment, and monitoring personnel and resources. You will study methods and implement cost reductions, optimize reporting procedures and systems and facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points. You will build and nurture a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Maintain quality service. You will establish and enforce organization standards. You will ensure the safe and optimized operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Implement change. You will elicit and compile manufacturing information by initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, and by answering questions and responding to requests. You will evaluate and identify improvements to systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, control mechanisms, and budgetary and personnel requirements. You will take ownership of implementing change.
  • Supervise the team. You will effectively communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise individual and team results. You will provide coaching, counselling, and disciplinary action for employees, and initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures. You will foster an engaged, positive, high-performance workplace culture and environment. You will maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, and by developing personal growth opportunities. You will navigate conflicts, performance issues, and personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actions. You will work alongside the team as needed to meet deliverables.
  • Take accountability. You will ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and prioritize a safe, clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources. You will ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout the entire production area during your shift, consistent with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements.

What you bring to the role:

  • The experience. You have hands-on plant experience, including exposure to supervisory or leadership responsibilities. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and managing shifting priorities. You have proven experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment, ideally supported by formal leadership training. You have strong knowledge of company Health & Safety. HACCP, PCQI, or other food safety certifications would be an asset.
  • The ownership. You lead by example by consistently demonstrating safe work practices, strong work ethic, and respect for standards, expectations, and company values. You are action-oriented and hold yourself and the team accountable for identifying root causes of issues and proposing viable corrective actions, rather than reporting problems. You are willing to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • The leadership. You bring a steady, accountable, and solutions-focused approach to guiding others. You can coordinate tasks, support team members, and contribute to planning and executing projects that strengthen food safety and quality outcomes. You deliver and expect follow-through on commitments, and create clarity around expectations. You are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage timelines, priorities, and cross-functional collaboration. You demonstrate a continuous learning mindset and encourage others to do the same, fostering a culture of consistency, improvement, and shared responsibility.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have clear, professional, and adaptable communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to prepare reports and relay quality expectations. You can work directly with cross-functional teams and build productive relationships across levels and departments, collaborating effectively in a diverse plant environment.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient with Microsoft Office and common manufacturing systems. You can navigate documentation, specifications, and production records with accuracy and attention to detail. You have strong analytical skills and a practical approach to problem-solving. You have proven organizational skills and close attention to detail.
