Skjodt-Barrett is a world-class manufacturer of food solutions and custom ingredients for North America's most beloved and trusted brands. We take pride in working closely with our customers to understand their unique needs and create innovative, individualized solutions that deliver joy to their customers.

A family-founded company started over 40 years ago, we are backed by the investment company Axel Johnson Inc (AJI). With their investment and support, we are well-positioned to foster growth and explore new opportunities.

Our customers, blue-chip international brands and mid-sized producers alike, are why we exist. Our teams of innovators, communicators, and managers are the people who meet their needs, build trust, and work to exceed their expectations.

Who we need

Reporting to the Manager, Production Planning, we are seeking a Demand and Production Planner to join our Supply Chain Planning team for an 8-month maternity leave contract. In this role, you will coordinate production schedules, manage demand inputs, and ensure the accuracy of orders and materials within our ERP system to meet business planning targets.

This is a hands-on, collaborative role that connects planning, materials, and operations in support of our contract manufacturing business across Ontario. You will monitor daily production performance, identify and resolve risks, and support both customer and internal communication to keep schedules aligned and commitments met.

This 8-month contract is a hybrid role working three or more days per week based out of our Brampton facility.

Who you are

You are a proactive and analytical planner who thrives in a structured, fast-paced manufacturing environment. You bring strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. You are confident working within ERP systems and Excel, using data to make informed decisions and keep production plans on track.

You collaborate easily across teams, communicate clearly, and stay calm under pressure. Whether you are building schedules, managing customer orders, or identifying material risks, you take ownership of your work and pride in helping operations run smoothly.

What’s in it for you

Experience and growth. Whether you are building on your background in supply chain or material planning, or looking to step into a new area, you will develop practical skills and direct, hands-on experience in production planning. You will gain exposure to end-to-end supply chain planning and learn from experienced mentors who will guide your professional growth.

Impact. Your work will help ensure that customer orders are met on time, production runs efficiently, and materials flow smoothly across the organization. You will contribute to optimizing schedules, mitigating risks, and maintaining strong communication across teams — directly supporting our commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Collaborative team. You will work onsite at our Brampton facility, joining a team that values communication, respect, and shared success. You will collaborate with planners, material specialists, and production teams on both established production runs and new product introductions. With clear processes, strong leadership, and daily opportunities to learn, you will be supported to do your best work and grow your expertise in a dynamic, supportive environment.

How you will make an impact:

  • Plan and optimize. You will create, adjust, and maintain detailed production schedules that balance capacity, materials, and customer demand. By translating forecast data and sales orders into actionable production plans, you will help ensure that every shift and line runs efficiently and in alignment with business goals. You will monitor performance, analyze deviations, and make informed decisions to recover quickly when schedules are at risk.
  • Coordinate and communicate. You will serve as a key link between planning, materials, operations, and customer service, facilitating the flow of information and ensuring everyone has the visibility they need. You will lead material review discussions to confirm availability, identify potential shortages, and mitigate risks that could impact production or customer commitments. You will also share weekly production updates and reports to keep internal teams and customers aligned.
  • Analyze and improve. You will maintain accuracy within our ERP system by managing production orders, updating schedules, and ensuring data integrity across all planning inputs. You will track KPIs, highlight risks, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing inventory levels, minimizing waste, and strengthening forecast accuracy.

What you bring:

  • The supply chain foundation. You bring experience working in a manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment. You understand how production, materials, and demand planning connect to deliver on business objectives. You are comfortable working with data, managing schedules, and ensuring that every detail supports on-time, efficient production.
  • The planning experience. You bring experience in supply chain, demand, or material planning, where you have developed strong analytical and organizational skills. You can interpret forecasts, manage production orders, and align capacity with demand. You are skilled at balancing priorities and adjusting plans to keep production on track.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient in ERP systems such as Microsoft DAX, SAP, or Oracle, and confident using MS Office tools, especially Excel, to analyze data and prepare reports. You may have experience with integrated business planning (IBP) processes and can perform intermediate mathematical calculations, including statistical analysis. Familiarity with APICS, cSCMP, or CSCP certifications, or progress toward one, would be an asset.
  • The communication and collaboration. You work well across departments, building strong relationships with operations, materials, and customer service teams. You communicate clearly and proactively, ensuring everyone has the information they need to succeed. You stay composed in a deadline-driven environment, solve problems effectively, and take ownership of your work from start to finish.
  • The adaptability. You thrive in fast-paced settings where priorities can shift. You learn quickly, embrace new systems and tools, and remain focused on continuous improvement. You take pride in contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team that values accuracy, efficiency, and results.
