A family-founded company started over 35 years ago, we are backed by the investment company Axel Johnson Inc (AJI). With their investment and support, we are well-positioned to foster growth and explore new opportunities.

Our customers, blue-chip international brands and mid-sized producers alike, are why we exist. Our teams of innovators, communicators, and managers are the people who meet their needs, build trust, and exceed their expectations.

Who we need

Reporting to the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, we are looking for a QA Supervisor to join our cutting-edge food production plant in Indiana. You will play a critical role in leading a team of QA lab technicians and overseeing daily QA activities ensuring compliance with industry regulations. You will manage quality control processes, implement standard operating procedures, and foster a collaborative and professional team environment.

Who you are

You want to bring your experience and knowledge of quality standards and procedures in food or beverage plant operations to make an impact. You are motivated by the opportunity to optimize standards and elevate quality, with the autonomy to make change happen. You want to work for a company where your voice will be heard and where you can grow your career in QA and beyond.

What's in it for you

Autonomy and influence. You will play a key role in maintaining our position as a leading manufacturer of complex food ingredients and products for globally recognized brands. You will have the chance to grow the team and implement best practices. This is a rare opportunity to work closely with not just the QA and Plant Managers but our COO as well.

Impact. You want to contribute to promoting a culture that embraces quality as an accountability owned by everyone. You will have the opportunity to build out new procedures, train staff, and ensure compliance.

Career development. You will work with a team that prioritizes an innovative and collaborative environment, valuing diversity of thought and engaging in healthy debates to reach mutually satisfactory conclusions. Whether you want to move up within QA or into another area of plant operations, you will be supported in your professional growth.

What you will do:

  • Oversee day-to-day QA operations. You will work on the floor with our product team, be hands-on with the technical equipment, ensure all processes and standards are being followed, and partner with external service providers. You will coordinate with the central quality team to gather, package, and send samples for customer requests, and manage specific testing as required. You will oversee the Dommers process, ensuring all raw materials meet specifications before entering the production process. You will monitor production lines and conduct inspections to ensure product quality. This is a day shift role but you will be required to be on-call for other shifts to provide QA oversight.
  • Lead the team. You will manage the team, including approving time cards and scheduling technicians to ensure adequate coverage across shifts. You will assign, supervise, and guide the work of the QA team. You will provide initial onboarding as well as ongoing training to the QA staff across all three shifts, sharing knowledge on standards and ensuring the adoption of new procedures. You will mentor individuals, nurture cross-functional collaboration, resolve conflicts, and promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and optimize standards. You will conduct tests and internal audits at various stages of production. You will complete all associated documentation and ensure it complies with regulatory requirements. You will confirm all production processes comply with internal and external standards, such as HACCP, GMP, and other relevant regulations, and implement corrective actions for any non-conformities. You will create, update, and roll out standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance in QA practices.

What you bring to the role:

  • The experience. You are a proven QA Supervisor with direct experience in a food manufacturing environment. You have an understanding of food safety requirements and have completed HACCP training and GFSI scheme training. Ideally, you are familiar with FDA, BRC, and other relevant audits and regulatory requirements.
  • The leadership expertise. You are calm under pressure, able to maintain composure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment. You have a proven ability to lead and manage a team, including scheduling, approving time cards, and providing training and development opportunities. You can influence without authority and work in partnership with teams, managers, and executives. You are highly collaborative and genuinely interested in understanding others, resolving conflict, removing roadblocks, and encouraging high-quality results.
  • The integrity and accountability. You think creatively and have an analytical approach to problem-solving, task, and time management. You can work alongside managers and plant floor staff to gain a deep understanding of the production floor. You can identify gaps and areas for increased efficiency and develop and implement appropriate SOPs. You work with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm, thrive in an evolving environment and step up to different daily challenges.
  • The technical skills. You have strong knowledge of quality assurance processes in food manufacturing, including experience with Dommers, pest control, and specific testing procedures.
