Who we are

Skjodt-Barrett is a world-class manufacturer of food solutions and custom ingredients for North America's most beloved and trusted brands. We take pride in working closely with our customers to understand their unique needs and create innovative, individualized solutions that deliver joy to their customers.

A family-founded company started 40 years ago, we are backed by the investment company Axel Johnson Inc (AJI). With their investment and support, we are well-positioned to foster growth and explore new opportunities.

Our customers, blue-chip international brands and mid-sized producers alike, are why we exist. Our teams of innovators, communicators, and managers are the people who meet their needs, build trust, and work to exceed their expectations.

Who we need

As we undergo an exciting period of growth, we are looking for a new Customer Account Manager. As the primary liaison between customers, you will drive sales and enhance customer satisfaction, ensuring seamless communication and successful execution. You will embody our customer-first culture and deliver presentations drawing on analytics, revenue forecasting, and strategic planning. You will be the critical component to the future success of our customer relationships.

Whether you have been working in Business Development for a few years or you are a recent grad with grit, hustle, and charisma combined with analytics and business acumen, this is the role to consider if you want to be a front-line company representative and a trusted advisor.

This remote role requires travel across North America and occasional visits to the Indiana head office. Travel for this role is up to 25% of the time across North America.

What's in it for you:

Impact. This is an opportunity to play an influential role as we change the narrative of how we achieve success and optimize our approach to partnership-building. As a front-line company representative, you will be viewed as a trusted advisor and have the opportunity to introduce processes and apply your insights.

Professional growth. This is a chance to accelerate your sales career. You will have a truly fulfilling role working with a manager who believes in investing in the success of his team through mentorship, coaching, and guidance. You will learn about a new industry, product offerings, the needs of a new client base, and the needs of their consumers. You will gain exposure to blue-chip companies as you strengthen existing relationships and foster new ones.

Challenges and rewards. Our customers know what they need to meet the demands of a sophisticated consumer market seeking innovation and cost-effective products. You will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration to understand those needs and present tangible advantages and results, leveraging data and analytics. The market opportunities are limitless.

What you'll be doing:

  • New business development. You will identify and develop new customer opportunities within selected markets. You will evaluate customer inquiries to determine suitability for business relationships. You will deliver presentations and manage ongoing communications to close deals successfully. In addition, you will increase our exposure by representing the company at industry trade shows, with travel requirements approximately 25% of the time.
  • Account management. You will manage and nurture existing customer relationships to ensure we meet and exceed their expectations. As the main point of contact for customers, you will coordinate with internal teams on all projects and product launches. You will prepare and conduct product presentations, business reviews, and ideation sessions with key accounts.
  • Strategic planning and forecasting. You will participate in monthly and annual planning and forecasting processes to identify future business growth opportunities. You will identify and analyze current market trends to inform business strategy.

You bring:

  • The consultative approach. You can build trusting, influential relationships. You know how to work with people at any level, in any area of a company. You know how to ask intelligent questions and drill down to understand their unique needs. You can confidently create and deliver presentations. You are deadline-driven but understand the patience and persistence needed in longer sales cycles. Ideally, you have proven success in outside business-to-business (B2B) sales and can navigate layers of approval in matrixed organizations.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient with Excel and can manage data and information. You can quickly learn new tools and technologies to present how our offering can make an impactful difference to a customer's success.
  • The drive. You want to learn everything you can about what we do and how we do it. You are results-focused with the initiative to build out highly effective growth plans and account management strategies. You can independently own and meet your deliverables.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have exceptional, highly adaptable communication skills and can express a value proposition to stakeholders. You can navigate customer needs, respond with urgency, and translate technical solutions for a non-technical audience.
